Making ‘Growth’ a priority

I believe that we actively strive to become better because we want to be happy. To grow, to be better at something, but ultimately, to feel a lasting sense of happiness.

Jim Rohn, entrepreneur, author, and motivational speaker, best states:

You must take personal responsibility. You cannot change the circumstances, the seasons, or the wind, but you can change yourself. That is something you have charge of.

Life is constantly changing, so you have to keep adapting as you go through life. Personal development also helps you live healthier and be less stressed.

Personal growth not only allows you to do better, but it also helps you cope with certain circumstances that life brings.

  • Pushes you outside your comfort zone

  • Develops your strength

  • Boost your confidence and self esteem

Making growth a priority

I believe the most dangerous trap you can fall into right now is to make growth a priority tomorrow. We should be intentional with growth, today.

1. Be reflective. Experience is not your greatest teacher; evaluated experience is.

2. Be curious. George Bernard Shaw said, “Some people see things as they are and ask why. Others dream things that never were and ask why not.”

3. Make contributions. Pour into other people around you. “The measure of success is not the number of people who serve you, but the number of people you serve.”

4. Keep it simple! Find a resource that will help you grow and learn from it. It could be a book, a person, an event or an ongoing program; whatever it is, start learning from it now.

I wish I could sit down with you, hear your story, and encourage you specifically in your journey. If you've had a difficult time and you don’t feel good about yourself, I want to tell you that you do have value. You matter.

Your life can change, and you can make a difference-no matter what kind of background you have or where you come from. No matter what traumas you've suffered or mistakes you've made, you can learn and grow.

You can become the person you have the potential to be. You just need to believe in yourself to get started. And every time you take a step, think a positive thought, make a good choice, practice a small discipline, you're moving one step closer. Just keep moving forward, and keep believing.
