Believing in yourself
Believe
Yourself
It’s one of the most corniest cliches but it means everything!
There a couple of sides to a personality. One that tells you you’re not good enough, the one that causes resistance, the one that provides all the reasons why you shouldn’t believe in yourself at all, knowing all your flaws and mistakes. Making promises you didn’t keep.
To the contrary, another side is one that keeps you coming back to content like this, looking for some gasoline to throw on the fire. It’s the side of you that knows you’re the shit. This side of you knows you could be getting better results by placing the puzzle pieces together for greater momentum.
What about Others? They’re better
There are people around us achieving something or the other. Whether it be better at running, great housekeeping, or overall presence. When we see people like this, we get impressed and we say something along the lines of “I wish I was like him or her.”
This is common human behaviour. But it doesn’t help foster the belief in ourself. If we are to do that properly, the most important thing is to know what we are really capable of.
strength realisation
Take a moment to think about your strengths. Think what you can do. Whether it’s minimal knowledge or experience or something you’re an expert of in that particular area. Make a list and reorder them. First three on the list are what you’re really good at followed by what you’re fairly good at, and things you can learn more about and improve on. This is what you are capable of. It’s a valuable list to you when you are making a self-assessment.
Live under no illusion of yourself. From what you can do and improve on.
At the same time, value yourself when you know your limitations and your potential. You know you can stand much better on your own.
Get feedback
If you truly doubt yourself, then go ask those you know and trust for some feedback. Ask, “What do you think I’m good at? What do you think makes me a good person? What should I work on to get better?” Their words will inspire or at least direct you. Sometimes we need that outside perspective.
Prime the emotions
What do you really want to feel every day? Happiness? Joy? Fun? These emotions can be generated in your mind without any external achievement. Just sit still with your eyes closed and summon the emotions you want to experience. Or read an inspirational passage from your favorite book, speaking aloud with real emotion and power. Try something like these ideas every morning to set yourself up for a great day.
Love yourself
You are unique among the seven billion-plus people on this planet. Recognize and honor that uniqueness. You don’t have to make excuses or dismiss your powers or heart. It’s okay to feel pride and love for yourself. Take a moment now and just be grateful for who you are, for your desire to improve, for the blessings of your life and breath. Love that you are alive.
