Act of Courage
We wrote about the courage to keep going to understand how courage can be contagious, how it can become a habit overtime, and how no ones journey is truly alone.
We should dig a little further in the actions we take to develop that courage. I’d like to share a personal story (asked to be kept anonymous).
12am, Oct 11th 2019, I was waiting for a train to get back home. 1 min left. At the corner of my eye, I see someone crying. With the train arriving and those walking by without any attention to that person, I couldn’t bare to have this person left alone.
“How are you feeling?” - “I don’t want to live anymore, I lost my job and partner. But why can’t I just end it.” There was hope somewhere still inside of this person that was keeping them around but it was the case of finding what that hope was. It would take some time and there will be times where you feel you can’t do it which can be due focussing on grief to find that hope.
This person found that renewed sense of hope and courage to move forward and see what was to come. Till this day, moved to another country, fantastic job, married.
You’re going to take the world by storm. You’re talented and trustworthy, and you have a work ethic that’s second to none.
These words probably aren’t coming as a surprise. You’ve already achieved a successful track record and have earned the trust and respect of your family, friends, and peers.
Sure, you’ll be faced with obstacles, slammed by adversity, and may even doubt yourself along the way. But I’m confident that you have what it takes to be a success. You’re going to be a star. There’s just one thing I’d like you to keep top of mind: Courage.
It’s important for you to believe in yourself, stand up for the values that you hold dear, and see the world for what it really is, not what you want it to be. Don’t be afraid to embrace change, confront uncertainty, and face the unknown. For these things are ways of life.
