Dealing with times like this: 2 things to keep in mind

it will be ok.jpeg

Coming home from Dubai had been the strangest time when the whole news was plastered over COVID-19. From being a short break to having the determination of not being stressed over the pandemic but yet I couldn’t keep my eyes off the situation, wanting to know more as time passes. As this could prove fatal, I stopped watching for a while and kept my mind off the struggles of world by reading a few books, keeping in touch with great friends and taking care of my nephew and niece.

But, I simply couldn’t avoid the truth. The pandemic we see today is real with COVID-19 sweeping across globally. The world is in a state of fear and uncertainty which is leaving many people confused, overwhelmed and afraid, understandably. We’re on the peak of a historic event.

Apart from the hand-washing and disinfecting (yes, that’s important too), there are 2 things which we should all keep in check:

1.     Take care of yourself

Our mind is the biggest battleground with the situation consuming our mind but the question I want to ask you is: How do you respond?

You have choice to either keep yourself on auto-pilot of the situation or empower yourself by being aware and open to what you’re experiencing then act sensibly and resourcefully, working with what you have.

It’s okay with the way you’re feeling right now. Take a walk, meditate, make that homemade meal you’ve always wanted to, listen to feel good playlists. Most importantly, keep yourself uplifted.

2.     Be there for others

We take care of ourselves by taking care of us all.

You don’t literally have to be there, you know with social distancing and all but we must reach out by video calling, funny meme’s and GIFs or a friendly call. Become that social support while others may feel alone.

The positivity we see currently around the world:

  • China closes down its last coronavirus hospital.

  • 94,674 people have recovered worldwide

  • Many companies are sharing the same message of togetherness between customers and employees with a sense of solidarity.

  • Local shops are beginning to be supported tremendously during the pandemic.

  • Pharma companies have all accelerated the development of vaccines and treatments for COVID-19.

Wherever you are in the world, I hope you, your family and loved ones are safe. Remember, “tough times don’t last - tough people do.”
