Make TIME your greatest asset

Time is the most valuable coin in your life. You and you alone will determine how that coin will be spent
— Carl Sandburg

With only 1,440 minutes in a day and with the most valuable things in your life (health, family and friends), where would you rank time?

For many, time can be ranked low out of the list of priorities but this is something you can lose and never regain. We’re in a world where distraction is common place; social media, TV, streaming, games, daily news.

Making use of time requires careful planning and self-discipline. I will use my progress of weight loss as an example. I was very much out of place within myself and I had the knack and willpower to really progress and make effort to grow. I built a habit to control what I was eating, focusing on the more healthy options and avoiding junk slowly but surely. I had made it my goal such as trying different exercise techniques to master as well as going Crossfit.

I knew my greatest return on this was a healthier outlook on life and my reward will be met, going from 107kg (October 2019) to 75kg (presently).

I asked myself 3 questions to prioritise my time on a daily basis in which i’ve learned from John C. Maxwells’ Today Matters:

1. What is required of me?

Within your career or personal life, what must you do? What is required of you. Give this some thought and make a list to prioritise this and always begin with the most important before moving to the next question.

2. What gives me my greatest return?

Progressing in your career or life, you begin to realise that some activities yield a much higher return effort than others do.

3. What gives me my greatest reward?

If you only do what you must and you are effective , then you’re very much productive. Also consider your personal satisfaction.

Begin overlooking these 3 questions. It can be common that you look at the reward without really giving effort to the other 2 questions. Focus on your time as it is the most valuable asset.
