Stop comparing yourself to others; Life is enough

lifeisenough
Be kind, always.

Take the strengths of others then compare them to your weaknesses. Does that make you feel any good?

This is a definite way to lose our self-confidence and make us feel unhappy. The fact is, we compare majority of the time. From schools, sports, income, career and a limitless number of other things and when we do, we feel like shit.

Social Media can be the main culprit as you flick and scroll through all platforms making you feel depressed or unhappy. You can “social distance” yourself by limiting the amount of time you’re on it but it doesn’t take away the problem. Although you might be happier, this doesn’t solve the problem of comparing yourself to others more often.

As an example

Your friend has created a successful business while you begin contemplating on all things that make you feel incapable in comparison with things that wish you had.

How do I stop comparing myself to others in a negative way?

  • Be aware when you start to compare yourself to others

  • Stop yourself in your tracks when you do so

  • Start thinking about the all things you DO have, the things you love, people you have and blessings life have given you

  • Perfection is imperfection: Learn to be OK with being imperfect

  • Don’t knock others down: Sometimes we criticise others to make us feel good which is a cause for destruction. Why make someone an enemy when they can be your friend.

  • Life is not a competition, it’s a journey.

One main thing is you have to do the work! Practice and make this a habit as the feeling of comparing less is entirely worth the effort.
